Thats just too good to be true... I would just hire any person from any background that has knowledge of 3D printing and CAD design and then send the hardware requirements to specialized company that makes these parts (there are lots of them) and id actually spend most of the budget and time on marketing the product and sales. Mechanical and Electrical engineers are mostly highly needed in large production industries or R&D like robots, motors, power, control...etc

Mechanical engineers are capable of doing much more stuff, they can write great software, solve difficult problems, and be funny. 😄

I do feel like chemical engineers can be quite flexible as well, since many work in materials science, bioengineering, and nanoelectronics. But then again mechanical and electrical engineers obviously work in nanotech as well.

Electrical engineers don’t usually focus on software unless they’re personally interested. It’s a bit more complicated than you say.

Ali, is it better to specialize in undergrad EE such as a B.S. in EE with communications specialization or would you say a comprehensive (general) EE degree is the best route?

Have you ever seen a code written by an electrical engineer? It looks like Kowloon City. And works like that. And when it finally doesn't, it's as fixable as Kowloon.
