Rotator Cuff Tear Repair

preview_player
Показать описание
The most commonly torn rotator cuff muscle is the supraspinatus muscle. Small incisions are made to allow arthroscopic investigation of the damaged region, and to allow the instruments to access the region. The damaged tissue surrounding the tear is removed, and frayed edges are trimmed and cleared. Holes are drilled and suture anchors are embedded in the bone at the natural attachment site of the tendon. Sutures are brought through the tendon, and are fixed to the anchor sites. The shoulder incisions are then sutured.

To the ones saying they can't afford to have the surgery, you will figure it out once you can no longer move your arm. I've had the surgery. I have 4 anchors in mine. The day I hurt mine I heard a pop, went to my knees, cold sweat poured out all over my body, 5 minutes later everything seemed fine, the next day I couldn't raise my arm. X-rays were done in the ER and they said it was arthritis. MRI confirmed different. The worst part after surgery is the sling you have to wear. It's attached at your waist so you can't move the arm around. Then the physical therapy ain't fun. You'll be surprised how weak your arm gets from being in the sling for 4-6 weeks. A can of 12 oz. Soup in circulating motions will make you feel like that arm is on fire and ready to fall off but the exercises help tremendously.

I did this procedure 15 years ago and never had shoulder issue anymore.

I went through 2 shoulder surgeries, one on each shoulder. This was not how they did it. Best advice, if it is determined that you have a full torn rotator, work and strengthen the surrounding muscles as much as possible before surgery. That will shorten your recovery time. Normally it takes 6 months, I was back, full duty in 4.5 months.

I had my left shoulder repaired 15 years ago. For about 4 weeks after I wished I didn't get it done but I'm very happy with it now. My right shoulder needs repair as it has been torn 7 years. I just need to save up for those weeks I will be off work as I'm self employed.

I could not tell if it was a good pain or bad that I was feeling when watching this. I ripped both out twice and never got surgery. I can barely get my arms over my head without screaming.

Ever since I became a CSCS I get a lot of surgery videos like this popping up and I actually think it’s weird but also cool. Need to know all of this stuff when I work with athletes and the general population

Nice this seems like a fun prank to do on a sleepover, the lobotomy was fun too but my friend ended up pretty badly and doesn't talk much since then.

The medical field is fascinating and awesome at the same time.

So 10 years after rotator cuff surgery it seems like I have a research. I had an MRI Saturday, this is the report.
Postoperative changes of distal clavicle resection and subacromial decompression. The inferior AC joint capsule is partially torn consistent with postoperative change.

Small subacromial-subdeltoid bursal effusion contiguous with the AC joint.

Postoperative changes of superior rotator cuff repair. The superior rotator cuff tendons are attenuated without a high-grade retracted tear. There is partial-thickness bursal-sided tearing of the supraspinatus tendon. Teres minor is intact. Subscapularis tendinopathy.

Fatty infiltration of the rotator cuff musculature involves less than 50% of the muscle volume.

The long head biceps tendon demonstrates tendinopathy and partial tearing at the genu with peritendinous edema. The tendon is perched on the lesser tuberosity.

Diffuse degeneration of the labrum. Diffuse, partial-thickness thinning of the glenohumeral articular cartilage without reactive osteoedema. No joint effusion.

Contusion or low-grade strain of the lateral deltoid muscle. Mild infiltration of the subcoracoid fat can be seen with adhesive capsulitis.

No lymphadenopathy.
Does this seem serious enough to need another surgery?

I have a tear on my right shoulder for almost a year. It keep popping every time I move my right arm. I'm a bit worried about this video that recommended to the people have tear on their arm required surgery. I need to work to pay my bills not to lay in bed with wrapped bandage on my right arm for weeks or months. I'm going to see the doctor this Friday and hope the doctor would give me something different than for me to not have a surgery.

How big is the rate of success on this surgery? A friend of mine actually reports regular cuff friction (producing an audible chalkboard like scratching noise) after surgery.

My orthopedic doctor said that this is the most painful surgery out of all surgeries. I had it done 3 years ago and I'll never do it again. My recovery was hell.

I tried it by myself and now the doctor said that they have to cut the entire arm off.

I had this done.
It was both terrible and wonderful
