Bangladesh: Students Celebrate As Sheikh Hasina Steps Down | Subscribe to Firstpost

In Bangladesh, celebrations have erupted as according to reports, Sheikh Hasina has stepped down as Prime Minister and fled the country. According to reports, the Bangladesh Army also gave an ultimatum to Sheikh Hasina. The Bangladesh Army Chief has met all the political parties amid the turmoil. Violence erupted after government supporters clashed with anti-government protesters, calling for PM Sheikh Hasina’s resignation. Gunshots were heard at night in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka. Bangladesh police said protesters stormed Enayetpur police station and violence killed 11 policemen. Protesters defied a nationwide curfew and attacked offices. Tight restrictions on access to internet services continue amid the violence.
