Students who spearheaded the uprising that toppled the prime minister say they won't accept military rule - they're demanding that Nobel Peace Prize laureate Muhammad Yunus be installed as a chief adviser to any new interim government. He's reportedly agreed to take on the role. This follows a day of chaos and disorder in which at least 109 people were killed and crowds stormed the Prime Minister's official residence, engaging in widespread looting.
We talk about the historical events with Prapti Taposhi, a student and activist at Jahangirnagar University in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

She truly captures what we were feeling yesterday and yes we don't trust the militaries for obvious reasons .We dont want the history to repeat itself again.

Deutsche Welle (DW) has truly won my heart. During the brutal killings in Bangladesh, they stood by the victims and amplified the voices that are often unheard. My deepest gratitude and admiration go to DW. Hats off to you, DW.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE

I don't appreciate in this video of crowd dismantling the statue of Late Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, The Father of the Nation of Bangladesh. Yes, aristocracies were committed by the present Government under Sheikh Hasina but the youngsters and the present generation who were protesting are not aware of the East Pakistan's( which is todays Bangladesh) scenario before 1971. If the great sacrifice were not done that time by the young generation then the present generation wouldn't have seen the light of the world
