Turbulence during flights is completely normal. Modern airplanes are designed to handle turbulence and remain under control, so I am not afraid of flying. I have experienced heavy turbulence and unexpected bumps without being bothered by them. Flight crew, including pilots, are required to undergo recurrent training and proficiency checks periodically, typically every six months to a year depending on regulations and airline policies. These checks cover a range of scenarios including emergency procedures, system failures, and handling in adverse weather conditions. If a pilot does not meet the required standards during these checks, they may undergo additional training or retesting. While failure to meet standards can result in restrictions or remedial training, outright license expiration typically requires more severe infractions or prolonged inactivity. I have complete trust in pilots to perform their duties and safely bring us home.

Turbulance doesn't bother me, but as soon as those lights start flickering, I'm gonna assume we're all dead.

Only a week ago I was on an Airbus 380 from Perth to Doha and this was the turbulence we experienced during large segments of the flight. What made it worse - it was pitch dark outside and it was a packed flight. Couldn't have been happier when the wheels kissed the tarmac at Hamad International, Doha.

Omg I had that happen to me heading to Panama and I nearly passed out, I put my head set in and danced in my seat until it stopped, it was terrifying, did not think I would make it out of it alive. Turbulence is scary, not being in control but god helped the pilots make it through! Tip my hats off to them all!

OK.. just came back in the 80's from performing for troops overseas. My husband who hadn't seen me in months gets tickets to Aruba. on the PAN AM flight home static electricity hit engine one... POOF on fire. Bam POOF another fire. We drop 10, 000 feet in about 6 seconds that's when my seat mate who I didn't know dug her nails into my arm. We crash landed in Antigua I think.. foam on the runway the whole 9 yards. I told my husband I would not fly off the island. As there was a new flight attendant that day who was from Japan I guess and couldn't handle her "R's" and as the plane stopped she picks up the mic and says... "we rike to thank you for frying PAN AM and we hope you had a very present fright" I swear to God ya can't make this shit up!
