SO MANY Google Home and Google Assistant Updates and New Features!

There are so many new Google Home, Google Nest, Google Assistant, Pixel, and even Stadia updates and new features to tell you about! I can't believe how many new features are available for you to use with your Google Nest system. We have everything from the new Google and SmartThings integration for your Nest cameras, thermostats, and more, as well as new Google Home Routines features, some new Google Assistant settings like the snapshot setting, Wellness with Fitbit, plus Google Pixel phones received a major update with features like Adaptive Charging, Adaptive Sound, and extreme battery saver all being so important to your experience.

Also, we'll walk you through some of what we expect from Google in 2021, as they're ramping up their hardware output. This all comes from some of the latest statements their CEO made in an earnings call.

Hi Brian, with this better integration of Google and Smartthings I wonder where I should put my focus on the automation. Since Google was pretty poor in that department I ended up using Smartthings for that. Since the base of support for devices is still so much bigger in Smartthings this would be a solid choice. But the upcoming of WiFi smart products may change that situation, since Google is way better in supporting these scenarios.

Do you think the Nest Protect smoke detector will also get updated in 2021? Given what you said about the APIs used and that the current generation came out 5 years ago.
I'm looking at replacing a couple of old smoke detectors and not sure if I should wait.

Man, I'm sad they had to discontinue my favorite speaker... the Google Home Max... it has served me VERY well and I will continue to use it to this day. It's done so many things for me and it's just overall been great for me to use. But I guess it's time we move on.

Hey Brian, got a question that I hope you have an answer for, since I haven't been able to find it anywhere else. In the Google assistant app, I have a red dot next to my picture for my account. This usually means notifications are pending, however I can't find anything pending or a place to dismiss it. The other thing is, the assistant app is the ONLY google app that shows the dot. Gmail, YouTube, Home, and even the Google Search app don't show this. I was wondering, and hoping you could tell me what this means, and if I need to address it. Thanks I'm running iPadOS 14, and the latest version of Google assistant on an iPad.

Wonder if this new update is causing the Bluetooth connection issues I am now having (randomly disconnects when using BT)
