I live in southern Idaho where lots of onions are grown. Lots of commercial onion rings start right here. For whatever reason, the onions that fall off the trucks on the way to the onion ring factory are always MUCH, MUCH better than anything you can buy in the store. So if I do a "Bloomed Onion" I will use one out of the ditch that bounced off a truck.

This is the majestic mating dance of the wild nacho as he woos the french onion soup! The onion soup (allium cepa gallicum aquosum) is a picky mate, and the nachos will dance for over 45 minutes before a choice is made.

You made my celiac teen smile. Shes never had onion rings, or a blooming onion. It's one if the things I have never been able to reproduce. Shes going to do this using gluten free bread crumbs. Thank you for this recipe, it will be easy for her to do.
