i am just in the middle of my lapopeysa from plotulopi, and definietly this short its very useful. I spend lots of time to prepared my self for unspun yarn. 😊

Eh! I always pull from the center; once i get past a bit of yarnbarf it's fine. My friend in Iceland would tuck the plate under her arm and pull from the center while she walked.
Also if I'm working at a relatively tight gauge, as in reel, I don't spitsplice but just overlap and knit in with a few stitches.
Plotulopi and J&S jumper weight are my two favorite yarns to work with. ❤

If it breaks that easily what will happen to the final knitted garment? Does it stretch after the garment is completed? Does it pill?
