And Japan's mountainous terrain is what protects it from invasion, but obviously not from nuclear bombings.

I know what you mean, but for me, they have the best geography in Asia which is why I lived there for a year on a holiday work VISA. I spent the winter teaching skiing and snowboarding in Hokkaido, the drive a motorcycle around the country in the spring and then taught scuba diving in Okinawa in the summer making it the best geographic experience I had. I even swam with Manta Rays.
