2024 Harley tourers - old rider's opinion - ROOTHY
CHECK AMCN magazine for the full yarn -

Righto, as an old Harley owner I figured it'd be good to see what the new ones are about. Came away seriously impressed - Harley-Davidson is alive and well, the local (Pacific region) management team is very switched on and the bikes themselves have so many good things to offer that Harley's given us enthusiasts - and all motorcyclists - a reason to trade up, These bikes are built to go hard in total comfort all day and with superb entertainment systems in case the road gets boring - which ain't likely with all that power to play wioth. Absol;utely love them - my favourite brand is in safe hands!

Last year a bought an 86 Honda Rebel 250 at an old farmers auction for $150, brought it home and gave it a shine and painted a few bits...that bike sure has started something ❤

Me personally, I love my twin cams, I have a 17' softail slim s, I've had a few over the years from XR's, to cbr1100xx, cx500, rmx-z, vfr800, er6n, vt750c to name a few, even a postie, which I ride daily to work, but there is nothing that matches the sound and feel of a Harley.
I've had the pleasure of riding a 1200 shovel a few times (true potato potato), and a 42'wla foot clutch tank shift, and a few evo's, and the one thing I always noticed with the HD was the raw feeling, the soul of the bike, that connection other than just a mechanical/rider connection that makes you want more every time 😊

Yep, they're sweet and fancy. But, when it quits in the middle of nowhere, you'll be gittin yer Iphone out to call for a tow. You likely won't be able to get it back on the road yourself and it can take Harley weeks to figure out what in the tech went wrong. (Been there, done that. Once too often) Keep yer ol ride handy, you may need it! Bought my first Harley in '78 and have been through literally dozens since. The best ones are bikes ya build yourself! I'll be trusting my '94 Evo over anything much newer. ✌😎

Let's hope they HAVE improved over the years John. The last Hogley Ferguson I owned unfortunately had AMF on the tank which was a harbinger of a foul taste that has lasted to this day.
