Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said Wednesday that the economy needs to improve more before the central bank will change its ultra-easy monetary policy.

In remarks prepared for the House Financial Services Committee, the central bank chief noted improvements but said the labor market in particular is still well below where it was before the Covid-19 pandemic hit. The chair’s comments came as part of his mandated semiannual testimony to Congress on the state of monetary policy and the economy.

You have to be kidding me. Resilient recovery. Printing money is not resilience, it's reckless.

There is something known as double-speak, where someone uses sophisticated terminology to replace basic and simple words in order to seem more important than one truly is.

I need Powell's job. It's kinda like being a meteorologist. He can't really predict anything with certainty or speak to why much of anything happens. He'll keep you posted though 😒🤷🏾‍♂️🤣

If we can get building permits a lot faster, and easier (with the local governments support), I can build more homes and create jobs. This will help with supply and lower cost. Thank You!

I don't know much about this subject, but if I understand something from hearing Chairman Powell talk about digital stable coins, cryptocurrency may become obsolete, or even illegal to be in currency? Someone with more knowledge on this subject please explain why or how could cryptocurrency continue to be in existence after stable coins become "The" digital coins in circulation and the only digital coins to be regulated by the central bank? Thank you in advance.

Its good to see some senators asking this joker some real sensible questions ...amazing how each of these chairs since Greenspan have appeared so serious and caring about jobs economy and the poor and yet each of them have only made decisions that seem to benefit only the ultra rich and the wall street with their cheap money stance, so in spite of stock market and real estate prices breaking all records, these very rich trickle economists with only one solution dont see that they have contributed to the huge inequality and resulting rise of extremism. Greenspan, Paulson, Bernanke, Geithner, Yellen and Powell - who among them has or had net worth reasonable enough to understand that average earnings per year as well as net total average savings for most families is about 30000 dollars and cheap money doesnt really trickle down there .. ever.
