A child is not forced into marriage but into slavery. That's what happens with all the girls that are forced to get married, especially before their period, they're just considered good as little slaves. This should stop forever

My grandma was married at 16. (This was in Southern India). Thankfully my mother was able to get an education and was able to escape child marriages. It's still happening in developed countries. Thank you for spreading awareness.

It still happens in America. Child marriage for children under the age of 13 is still legal in some states with "parental consent". Worded as if it's not the parents decision to begin with.

If I had a grandfather who married a 8 year old girl I would have absolutely no respect for him or my great grandparents.

Have you ever heard of Naila's law? Its not just a third world country problem. Child marriages happen even in developed countries and the worst scenario possible, it's perfectly legal in those countries. A judge can just sign your marriage off with parental consent in some states in the US. We need to wake up. This is a world problem and it's not limited to places with little to no development.

though my mom was married off when she was sixteen, my grandfather would follow my father seceretly for days so that he can be sure that the man marriyng his daughter is a gentleman. My dad still talks about it and says i was very irritated back then. Also my mom was very beautiful back then (she still is) so there were multiple men who wanated to marry her one of them actually hired some men to pick mom up from her house. So m grandfather was verry worried and then married her off as soon as she completed highschool. And Also my grandfather married my grandma when he was 19 and she 13. it was how it was back then.

Missouri has more child marriages than any other state in the US. My grandparents were married in Cali & my grandma when she was 15, my grandpa was in his 20s in Jan 1954. My mom was born in August 1954 as a 10lbs "premie." They were married for over 30yrs when he passed.

Marriage is a means for people in “devoloping countries” to survive. It works for some at a young age and doesn’t work for some.

Child marriages is also happening in the Middle East including parts of the Gulf. The strange thing is little girls can be married off without their consent, but they can't ask for or petition courts for divorce. The absence of legal autonomy for females is designed to ensIavethem. They are handed by their fathers, socalled guardians to their husbands, their new socalled guardians.

It happens in the US too. Not sure about other “developed” countries. It needs to end.
