You know our foster care system is broken when an abused child runs away and goes back to an abusive home.

The Indian central government raised the age of women from 18 to 21 to get marry, totally appreciating the new law...A new chapter for women empowerment✨ I hope it's the same for every women in this world ... To all my girls out there, grow peacefully, be fearless and realise your power❤️

The fact that this happened in America and not just some rural Indian/Pakistan village is chilling. If this is how it is in a first world country. Imagine our state.

It's crazy how these types of issues are not given the coverage and attention they need in mainstream media and politics. My heart breaks for every victim of these cursed traditions/acts.

India the legal age has been raised to 21 and it's surprising the legal age in America is a lot younger.

Crazy that you can be married at 14 with "parental consent" only 5 years ago... And some states still have no minimum age limit to this day. So proud she got through it and helped make a change. <3

This is what happens when a world cares more about the way men feel than whether or not women are seen as human beings.

Not only child marriage, but almost everything, happening with women in my country Pakistan, is completely inhuman n cruel. I was forced to get married by my parents. I was physically, mentlly and emotionally abused and raped many times, even during pregnancy. My ex married 4 times. I fled from Pakistan with my 7 years old daughter thankfully. But the traumatic 9 years in Pakistan still give me night mares in USA that I have become a ptsd patient. God bless the women in Pakistan.

This LITERALLY happened to my best friends half sister. Her “father” her mother married and adopted after she was born, sent for her to get married at 14. Raped and abused for years and is now free remarried and doing better than ever, and speaking out to protect girls from the same fate!

My mom was married to my dad when she was 13 and my dad was like 30 and that marriage happened infront of everyone in the neighborhood and people and the fact no one did anything to stop it makes me sick Even those days child marriage was a serious criminal offence and even dowry happened in that wedding and How these crimes are happening and no one is doing anything to stop it is just so messed up. My mom never wanted to marry my dad she wanted to study and do a job but because she was married off she couldn't anything of that and now she lives through mine and my sister's dream. I wish one day she can happily live her own life without the thought that she do need anyone in her life and i hope one day she feel that she is enough for herself. That day would be the happiest day in my life.

My mom got married at the age of 14, it was not against her will, she was a kid, she just accepted it because she did not know how to live her life in another way that time. She had to face so many troubles, she was always so strong. My dad made her life hard, no one was there to help her, she was so lonely, not knowing the language of the country she had to move to. It was a hard journey for her and still is. After having four kids and after more than 30 years of 'marriage' she is ready to finally get divorced. It's so sad. She is the strongest woman I know, despite all of that she never lost the kid in her heart 🤍

People who force child marriage must be sent to prison. They are evil people😈. How dare they force a child to become a wife at such an age. Lady I salute you 👏.

What a hero. We must stand with her. It wasn't until in the 90s that marital rape became illegal in the US.
We have to disabuse ourselves of the notion that we are so advanced.

This woman came to my college and gave a presentation. I was so lucky to have met her. Opened my eyes on how precedent this issue is. So many states allow child marriage. But deny those children the ability to file divorce until they are 18.
