I just purchased a new 2021 Mustang GT premium below the MSRP. The Ford dealership had a $5, 200 mark up, but it was removed once they knew I was serious about purchasing the vehicle. The dealer discounted $1, 000 plus $1, 000 national rebate and $500 first responder/military discount. That placed the vehicle at $2, 500 under MSRP. I walked out with a good deal in today's market and 2 years of free oil change.

25 % mark up !? Hmm . Maybe you guys are using East Coast math ? But here in the Midwest . That is a 50% mark-up . In that 1/2 of 17, 690 is $8, 885 .. and subtracting $17, 690 from their $26, 399 is $8, 709 . It isn't " quite " 50%, but damn near ... RUN away from that Dealer !!! Be safe out there folks ... Gubs

you did not mention "doc fees of $699" those are also outrageous and possibly illegal depending on state law

I can't help but think that at a 7k mark up on a car like that you could be looking at a national level since shipping the same car would be cheaper than that.

This makes me want to run not walk from any dealerahip right now. The markup on that vehicle is grotesque. I do enjoy negotiating in normal times but right now it's absurd isn't it?

How stupid are people that want to buy a car right now who pay the dealer markup over MSRP. If these people would stop paying these crooked dealers what they are asking for the practice of over-charging will go down or stop completely. Sorry, but I don't buy the "market value" hype. Believe it or not, there are retail auto dealers that are not gouging the customer with inflated pricing. Shop around, there are dealers out there that want your business and are willing to offer you a reasonable deal.

Hyundai and Kia, two brand dealerships which I avoid with a passion. These dealers seem to think their products are worth more than gold.

I mean I got my car at msrp, sold it back to the dealer for more than msrp, then bought another new car less than msrp... maybe I'm just lucky.
