How Accurate are the Apple AirTags? Better than Tile?

The marketing fluff for the AirTags looked crazy accurate. Are they in real life?

Took a quick stab at figuring out the accuracy of the AirTag and I have to say, I'm impressed. Monty is as well!

I think it's designed with the phone moving rather than the airtag. Maybe it assumes the airtag is in the same place so if the phone's not moving it doesn't refresh the signal as much?

Maybe a wishful thinking, but would love to see a real life test! ie. Put a tag on the backpack for Val and send her out to the wild, see if you’ll be able to locate her, or also mark the bag as lost after the tag has been released out in the wild, and see how soon or how the “community” helping locating lost item works?

Good stuff. I think the U1 Chip used for precision finding is at the very top of the iphone.

How do I get my iPhone to measure the distance from my airtag in meters?

I've been using tile for a year and am happy with it. Found my keys wallet and the TV remote over that time. Works well. One thing you didn't mention is the cost difference.

What app are you using and why aren't you using Find My which is their interface for these? You're using an unrealistic example here, I WISH I could even tell what direction my missing cat is - with the Find My interface you cannot tell ANYTHING with air tags, they're a white elephant.

The Airtags were probably accurate because Apples reputation is at stake but it’s nice to make sure thanks Aaron keep up the content ❤️
