Your words are one thing... but how you say it is another.

This is exactly one of the reasons why I teach communication skills - when you learn how to use your voice in a more engaging way, you're able to bring your words to life.

This includes injecting emotion into your words and becoming more expressive when you speak.

A great example is this very video 😂 talking about boring people & stories is technically boring. I remember learning these things in drama class in university, we had to take a page from the a textbook and make it as dramatic as possible - I’m talking over the top yelling, crying, maniacal laughing. Really silly stuff, but it hammered home the point of how crucial delivery is. Something that’s always missed in keynotes these days

I did a presentation for uni last year, on the same topic as the rest of the students in that room. I also went close to last, which was not ideal for my anxiety, but it meant that we'd all heard a similar case study and ideas to handle the case. I leveraged my performer background and opened with the 'falling over' slide transition, asking the room to blow at the screen. I got at least half the room onside from the start, and then focussed on pacing and effective delivery for the rest. This was before I saw any of these shorts, so I use them as an ego boost, and a reminder for future presentations I may have to do
