Hello Friends,

Today I'm showing you how to install an ebike torque arm. These are common to have on a powerful DIY Ebike.

As a safety feature, a torque arm can help prevent the motorized wheel from flying out of the frame dropouts and off the bike.
Just a few tools are needed and installation can be completed in minutes.
I recommend using a torque arm if you have a motor over 350 watts.

Have you installed an ebike torque arm for your bike?

✍🏻 In this blog, I show you step by step the tools and steps necessary to install an ebike torque arm.

It's actually better to install the torque arm from the bottom because the direction of torque is opposite from that which the wheel is turning. So seeing how you have installed it is only as strong as the hose clamp holding it, which isn't that good

Gonna use this as reference for installing my 2 torque arm kit on my walmart bike that I am converting into a 1000w e-bike when the parts get here next weekend. Since the kit has 2 arms, I'm gonna put one on each side

I'm very new to ebikes and you have been my go to source. You have so much good stuff out there. If you have 10 seconds I have a quick question sir; if someone was running 2 hub motors and their combined max current from the controllers was 60 amps, and you used a battery with 50amp BMS (52v 20ah), what would happen? If you ran WOT you may trip the BMS of the battery and it come back on after a few seconds? Or something worse? Thank you!

This is wrong. All of the work is being done by the hose clamp. The torque is going backward.
As for the arm not fitting on in the right direction, you needed to flip it around to get it lined up. You only rotated the piece and selected from one of two direction. The item is not symmetrical - you need to flip it around and try those directions.

Those wire clippers is a adjustable wrench.

You are supposed to install the torque arm, against the torque.

You have it backwards.

The only thing holding your torque arm on is the hose clamp.

You really should think about what you post - this installation is very dangerous not to only you (OP, ) but others who are installing it wrong.

Will this actually help? My rear wheel is also not fitting a lot exactly like the way ur axle doesnt fit a whole lot into the frame

Had a 750 watt hub that ate my dropouts completely. I opt for steel frame now exclusively. Torque arms not optional.

I've seen some people or the torque arm from the bottom. Does it make a difference? Do you get better torque transfer if it's coming from the top? I've always thought so myself

Is it enough to install just one side?

" metal ring " is a jubilee clip or a hose clamp :) not to be pedantic but people who are new to basic DIY skills might wanna know what to type in to buy some
