He didn’t use a mind trick because doing so would out him as a Jedi. also, the wording of the video makes it *kinda* seem like it’s Obi Wan’s daughter, it’s not, just the actor’s daughter

I think other factors would have been him being more shut off from the force, being undercover pretending not to be a jedi, having a different outlook, and having more context.

The first two would make him less likely to use the force in general. The other two mean he's probably more conscious of her lack of agency in things. The first spice dealer, he probably assumed the dealer had chosen that path, and wasn't aware of how dire some people's circumstances are. After the clone wars, order 66, and his time in hiding, Kenobi was probably more conscious of the problems in the galaxy anyway, and the girl essentially told him that spice dealing was her only method of income, and that she had no other options. Essentially, making her rethink her life would just force her to look at just how helpless her situation was, rather than making her find a better path.

Those are my thoughts, anyway.

Jedi mind tricks are a tool, and like many tools the morality is in how you use it. Defeating Death Stars and death sticks seem legit uses to me.

I think it's worth saying: Obi-Wan was out of practice with the Force, it's possible he could have botched the skill check on that and caused a scene. Also, the mind trick only works on weak minded individuals, this girl was assertive and confident.

I've never heard that using mind tricks was wrong in itself. It all depended on how you use them.

in the scene from the Kenobi show, not only was he in fear for his life because of the Jedi purge but also because of that fear he had allowed his powers to become so repressed he hardly knew how to use the force at that particular point in the show

By using the force it gives him away. Just like it did when he saved Leia when she fell.

Well...To go into extended lore. A mind trick gives the idea without taking control of the mind. This is considered a "neutral" power of the force.

While Mind domination causes the afflicted to do anything the caster asks. Killing, giving all their food or money etc. which is considered dark force.

Obi was out of practice at this time. He'd essentially lost his connection with the force and struggled to use it like he used to. He also couldn't risk exposing himself: the last thing he needs is this girl going to an imperial officer and telling them "yeah, this dude in a weird bath robe just waved his fingers at me and suddenly everything he said made perfect sense..."

It was considered a dark side power and not all Jedi had the power to use it. But there is no light side or dark side. There is only the force and the way a individual uses the force. Thank you Bindu
