I KNEW there would be an Abm7 - but for good reason(s). The IVm and Vm are great for many reasons also. They take us 'away from home' (i.e. CM) a little bit.

The borrowed chords are thought provoking- however, my ear (with its limited training) prefers the sonic possibilities of the Emin7(11) 👍🏼although the are all intriguing/beautiful in their own respective ways. Prime example of why I am working toward ongoing goal, to “learn jazz, make music” :)

bVIIm7 is nice and hardly feels borrowed. And bVIImM7 can be powerful.

What why not the II chord? Don’t know about jazz, but in many, many songs the most beautiful thing is when it goes to the II chord after some I, IV or V chords.
