NASA just announced that it will roll back the SLS from the launchpad.
What exactly went wrong with this $23 billion rocket?
Can it lift off the ground?
All this and more in today's episode of Great SpaceX!

On Saturday night the space agency announced plans to roll the large SLS rocket from the launch pad at Kennedy Space Center to the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) in the coming days.
Honestly, this marks a notable step back for the program, which has tried since April 1 to complete a "wet dress rehearsal" test.
This decision comes after three failed tries during the last two weeks.
Each fueling attempt was scuttled by one or more technical issues with the rocket, its mobile launch tower, or ground systems that supply propellants and gasses.
During the most recent attempt, on April 14, NASA succeeded in loading 49 percent of the core-stage liquid oxygen fuel tank, but the liquid hydrogen flow was stopped at the 5% point after engineers detected a hydrogen leak.
Jeremy Parsons, deputy manager of NASA’s exploration ground systems program at Kennedy, tweeted during Thursday’s countdown rehearsal, “Hydrogen is extremely hazardous, cold, and a small molecule that is known for leaking. All of these systems have been sealed, leak checked and tested to the highest extent possible prior to wet dress rehearsal.”
But the leak checks between the SLS core stage and the mobile launch platform have, until recent fueling tests, all occurred at warm ambient temperatures. Liquid hydrogen fuel is chilled to minus 423 degrees Fahrenheit, and liquid oxygen is stored at minus 297 degrees Fahrenheit.

To be resolved, thank you.

And where all along Mr. Musk and his SpaceX are launching and relaunching rockets. Can you imagine where we would be if Mr. Musk had run NASA for the last 59 years? In my opinion we would already be on Mars.

One day soon, nasa and ULA will not be flying any rockets, because SpaceX is crushing NASA AND ULA.

One problem is that the contracts for SLS keep paying the contractors during all of these delays. The contractors are not financially motivated to launch the SLS sooner rather than later.

If SLS wasn't politicaly delaying Starship, I couldn't care less for SLS' timeline.

I see now why there are so many qualified astronauts lined up to fly on SpaceX ships while REFUSING to go anywhere near this Earth bound NASA "machine".

Just my own thoughts, Then "The Government" needs to let Elon and Star Ship Launch and stop holding up there progress.

Boeing's Starliner & NASA's SLS were never expected to fly.

They were nothing but cash cows.

SpaceX's incredible launch cadence and Starship rapid testing has injected massive panic.

If NASA is forced to scrub the launch attempt, expect the political delays to SpaceX and Boca Chica to eventually go away.

Because if they continue to delay, and SpaceX is able to build a tower and have Starship's ready to test launch in Florida before SLS ever gets to the "Light the Candle" moment. That will be truly embarrassing.

11 years and 30 billion US taxpayer dollars and what do we get?

Contrast this with a superior substitute in Texas that has been ready to fly for some time and has simply been held up by government bureaucracy. A number of the prototypes built so far could have flown. Too bad we never saw the raptor 1 engines in action.

Elon Musk Starship: 3-4 Years $10 Million
NASA SLS Rocket: 10-11 Years $30 Billion
Does anyone notice anything wrong here???

How can the US gov delay SpaceX's Starship first Orbital test until after the SLS test as NASA are under such political pressure to launch the most powerful rocket flying ?

And so the story continues...to infinity and beyond...

When it’s Tax Payer Dollars, they call it job security when it doesn’t fly!! One big paper weight!!!

Who in their right mind would ever be willing to fly on anything shown to have so many problems?
Musk and Space-X engineers have had the greatest concepts since Werner Von Braun!

Hope no one's getting on that, USA needs Supreme commander Elon to run all their space program

6:08 stacked 16 months ago, at that time the report said a 1 year shelf life...
Now I'm not the best at math, but im pretty sure 16>12.

Kinda obvious to give up and go for The Falcon Heavy.

Wtf this is ridiculous waste of money and time! Give the money to space x and then we will see real progress!

Maybe I'm wrong here, but wasn't the SLS suppose to be relatively quick, cheap, and easy to do as they were just going to basically rearrange some of the existing shuttle tech (shuttle engines, boosters, etc) to basically make a shuttle launch vehicle minus the shuttle part? Perhaps I was mistaken...

Meanwhile, SpaceX in basically the same timeframe has developed and built a fleet of extremely reliable, reusable, and cheap Falcon 9's. And is in the process of developing a completely reusable heavy lift vehicle (Falcon Heavy not withstanding) in the form of Starship...
