I was barely an infant. I grew up with my mom telling me how much President Kennedy and this country was loved around the world. Especially the poor countries. 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢.

When we learned about this in school, our teacher asked us to go home and ask our family members that were alive (mostly our grandparents) where they were and how it affected them.

My grandmother told she was at home ironing and watching TV, and the show she was watching switched off and it was announced, then she called my grandfather was a journalist, he didn't know about it yet. Fun fact: my grandfather actually worked for JFK's brother, Robert Kennedy who was also assassinated, if Robert Kennedy had lived and been elected President, my grandfather would have worked in the White House.

I also asked someone else who was a bit younger. He was in high school, in History class the principal came over the intercom and announced it, he told me his teacher started to cry.

I'm Irish from Dublin, Ireland and since his election we had two portraits hanging in every home on the fireplace wall. One of the Pope and one of President Kennedy, later a third with sadly Bobby Kennedy.

I was in gym class at Wilmington Jr. High, CA., 13 years old in 8th Grade. The coaches gathered all the gym classes to sit down and said important news was coming. The Principal Dr. Barnes spoke over the school speaker system. It was hard to hear out on the school yard. Then when we were showering the news came over the loud speakers very clearl;y that Presdent Kennedy was dead. One of the worst days of my life. Teacher's didn't do any teaching the rest of the periods that day. Most teachers just talked to us in sad tones, then told us to read quietly. I went back to my Jr. High on the 50th Anniversary, went out sat down on the field exactly where I heard the news 50 years earlier while in gym class

I was 7 years old and pretending I was sick to stay home from School.
After awhile, Mom caught on that I wasn't really sick and asked me of I wanted to go downtown with her to see President Kennedy in the "Parade".
I said "Okay" and sat down in front of the TV Set while she went downstairs to make us some sandwiches.
Watching TV, I got the news first. and YELLED for Mom. She came up the stairs quickly asking what was wrong.
I told her that the President had been shot. She turned pale as she looked at me and then at the TV.
The rest of the weekend went by as if in slow motion:

Walter Cronkite announced that President Kennedy was dead.
Vice President took the Oath of Office on board Air Force 1, sworn in by Judge Sarah T. Hughes.
The murder on LIVE TELEVISION of Oswald.
The President lying in State at at Rotunda of the Capitol Building.
The Procession to Arlington National Cemetery.
John Jr.'s salute and final farewell to his father.
The Funeral Service.
Our country has not been the same.
