Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich believes the homeless camp in the East Central neighborhood has disturbed the peace for too long.

This camp has ruined my neighborhood I hate it. I have never felt so unsafe because of all the theft and drug use. I have found these people in my yard a few times now, it’s a violation of my privacy, what are my taxes even for.

Why is everyone fighting cleaning up the camp. Get it done and the sheriff is right on track. I am sorry these people are homeless but many of them refuse to give up their drugs to be able to live in housing. They just plain do not want to follow rules to better their lives

The thing about the homeless - When you subtract the organic homeless - The people who have fallen on hard times and just need a bridge to get back on their feet - You still have 92% of the problem. Thank the good Sherriff

Our society’s strategy for dealing with homelessness and drug addiction seems to be, “Move then somewhere else.”

That this still seems to us as like the best we can do, even as the drug/homelessness crisis grows worse and worse across the nation, gives the appearance that we are making zero progress on this issue.

I empathize with the neighbors who are affected by this. I live in this neighborhood as well.

But we are doing nothing to solve the issue.

We’re just trying to push the problem off of our own plate, out of our own back yard, and into someone else’s.

We do this because we do not know what else to do, not because it is a real solution.

"600 people won't be re-housed by October 14th" -Beggs 95% of those in Camp Dope don't WANT shelter because they don't WANT any rules to stop them from doing drugs whenever they want and throwing trash everywhere. They LOVE that and won't give it up.

Thank god someone is finally doing something I've had to fight off 3 homeless people this year from my property we will not be voting for anyone who is in office now again that's my whole family's stance this has become a nightmare. A super avoidable one. Shame on u spokane this is why 4 friends of mine whole family's have left spokane for safer areas. If I could afford I would left to. Clean this up if i wanted to live in Seattle i would.

Kudos to this sheriff!!! He is preventing a bigger problem which is that the affected law abiding citizens will inevitably take the law into their own hands and do something about this drug den if someone in authority doesn't do something!!!!

When I want to camp I need to pay...nothing is free .. In fell asleep in a park, was there after hours and got a ticket ..why are we footing the bill for homeless shelters when we are paying for this type stuff as well.... So the people that are complaining about this camp I wonder how they would feel if it popped up next door to them... I guarantee you they go into their suburban neighborhoods or their gated communities and they're not concerned because it's not around them they don't have to deal with it
