Sheriff's Office identifies deputies involved in Spokane Valley shooting

The Spokane County Sheriff's Office has identified the two deputies who were involved in a shooting on June 4 in Spokane Valley that resulted in the death of a suspect.

The Sheriff's Office identified Deputy B. Miller and Deputy M. Peterson as the two involved.

Deputy Miller was hired by the Sheriff's Office in 2014 and is assigned to the Spokane County Sheriff's Downtown Precinct Patrol Division.

Deputy Peterson was hired in 2017 and is also assigned to the Downtown Precinct Patrol Division.

Peterson is also a current Sheriff's Office Patrol Tactics Instructor.

The Spokane Independent Investigative Response Team is investigating the shooting. The Spokane County Medical Examiner's Office will release the name of the suspect who died at a later date.
