DIY AFFORDABLE House Makeover | How to renovate your FIRST HOME | AUSTRALIA
Hi everyone,

In today's video Lewis and I take you through our first home and show you how we modernised our house. We didn't want to spend a fortune on sprucing up our house so we found fun and affordable ways to make our house our own.

In total, we spent $7,000, including new floorboards and paint in every room. We found that the Facebook marketplace was the best place to purchase second-hand goods.

I apologise for the audio.

You should look into spray painting your window trims, black. Refresh it from the yellow. And it’s a cheap DYI

The concrete paver is probably not enough for the fire pit…

My partner and I recently brought our first home in Melbourne and we are finding these video’s extremely helpful. Binge watched most of your video’s the past few nights. Keep up the amazing work!

House looks nice. Not going to lie though, hearing you say that you ripped up that beautiful old timber floor and chose to replace it with floating floors hurt me deep inside.

That was so helpful. I hope to buy a unit similar to yours & similar price in Melbourne’s east. I think you reminded me that when I find the right property I don’t have to spend a fortune updating everything,

im building my first home and having tradie friends is such a must haha, my besties husband is doing my aircons for free (so getting better units for 3500 instead of the 5500 the builder charged), my partner is a sparky and doing everything extra we wanted electrical and his grandad is a carpenter and doing our fencing and shelving (not to mention he knows someone and is getting us a discount on security screens).

Its so insane how much house stuff costs. I HAVE to have the house rendered and that alone is 7k ugh (covenent guideline, building in an estate).

Thank you for sharing this. I've found it really hard to find examples of Australian apartment renovations. Even though yours is a house, it has a small footprint with floor plan and structural finishings similar to a 70s/80s unit, which is what we just bought. Thankfully ours was renovated within the last 20 years so we can be a bit slower with the choices we make (i.e. it's not terribly out of date - although yours also seemed very liveable, I'm guessing 90s?), but it's good to see what other people have done.
