I had one of these, got hit by another car 17 years ago and written off. Saddest day of my life. I think I need to start looking for another now. This video brought it all back, thank you!

I had a CX 2000 Pallas also 5-speed. It would go to 200 km/h and it was like a flying carpet even at those speeds.

Yes, like the others said, it's the transmission warning lamp. Specifically, the transmission fluid temperature warning. It is only relevant for models with the semi automatic 'C-Matic' transmission I think. The owner's manual states that you have to select a lower gear if it lights up until it goes out. I've had two 'C-Matics' and never once got that to light up (despite trying to!)

I live in France, my grand father who was the director of the restaurent of à big hôtel in Paris got one, I never had to see it since Hé sold it before my birth. My mom learnt to drive with it, and now that it has been the car for two génération, I dream about buying one (some of them are cheap, 5000€ but with the pollution restrictions in europe it would be complicated tu use it)

Interesting "rotating drum" speedometer. The ill-fated FORD Edsel had the same design for one production year.

Ich hatte einen CX 2400 Gti.
Ein wunderbares Auto.
Flugzeugcockpit, bequeme Sitze.
Die phantastische Hydropneumatik.
Wundervoller Reisewagen.
Wo ist sie hin die schöne Zeit?

I had a new 1978 CX Prestige 2400 EFI 5 speed with leather with Paris Delivery. Brought it back to Australia. Supreme touring machine.
My car was UK specification and had the rotating drum speedo and tacho.
On a long down hill I saw 125 mph on the speedo and 5400 in 5th on the tacho.
At 100 mph or 160 kph it was 4, 350 rpm in 5th. And 5, 500 rpm in 4th.
On French B roads with undulating surfaces the Diravi self centring steering was uncanny.

I thought these were supposed to be super smooth riding cars. Why is the camera shaking so much?

i think the other light is for the hydraulic system pressure

Not fast enough... I got my 1978 CX Prestige 2400 EFI up to 120 mph - 193 kph
In 5th (overdrive) at 100 mph or 160 kph is was doing 4, 350 rpm.

In 4th it would max out at 110 mph or 177 kph
Luxury land bound rocketship
