The master of comedy, Mel Brooks returns today with “High Anxiety”.
Its musical score, based around a theme that was composed and also performed by Brooks himself (look forward to the mid of the video), was composed and arranged by the director’s close collaborator and friend John Morris. Most of the score is less melodic than being short throw-ins of something like 20 seconds to underline an action, so this video might leave you with the feeling of jumping around in tracks wildly, but I gave my best to prevent this anomaly.
The music is unreleased to this day on CD, the source for this video was the isolated score track from the movie’s Blu-ray. Hope you enjoy it!

I was never a big fan of john Morris But I knew of him and that he had written some wonderful Music for Film. My favorite score of his is Blazing Saddles. John Morris in my estimation was a genius compared to what we have today writing Music for Film. Thanks Fred for a great upload to some excellent music for Film. Out.

I see two thumbs down. Not sure why anyone would dislike this score. I always found it one of the best Morris scores for Mel Brooks and High Anxiety is one of my favorite movies of Mel Brooks. The score and the movie parody Hitchcock brilliantly.

In all seriousness, though, this is one of the scores that piqued my interest in film music back in the early 90s. The other ones (Rollercoaster, 9 to 5, Short Circuit) have all been released, but this one seems to have been forgotten. Enjoyable music and a fie match to Brooks's spoof. Thanks for posting this. John Morris was an unsung composing genius.
