We often forget how much effort and meaning musicians put into their work. Hours upon hours worth of passion and ideas — all condensed into a track that only lasts a few minutes at most. Here, I'll briefly try to appreciate some of that genius by examining Hans Zimmer & The Magnificent Six’s theme for Electro, from The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

"You know, Max was the sweetest guy until he fell into a vat of electric eels"

"Yep, that'll do it"

The most impressive thing about this is that its unlike any other Hans Zimmer works. The man really went from orchestral to dubstep and pulled it off brilliantly.

One thing that I found *really* interesting is that during the scene where Max is in the city, surrounded by people and police, he comes to his senses and doesn't understand what's truly happening. Meaning no harm, trying to not hurt anyone as he doesn't really realize that he has become something different, his theme song goes back to the way it was in the beginning. It was a way of saying that Max had came through just for a couple minutes, and when Peter was talking to him, trying to help him, his anger started to get the best of him and his theme goes back to the menace, evil sound.

The background vocals for anyone interested:

"Body's racing, mind is aching"
"Pulse is shaky, madness breaking"
"Paranoia, self destroyer"
"Can't ignore the mental torture"

at 0:48 they change to:

"Something's happening"
"Mind destructing, agony inside of me"
"My pulse is racing, it's this paranoia"
"Mind is aching, body's racing"
"Pulse is shaky, madness breaking"
"I can feel the darkness taking over"

"Denying, the rising"
"The crying, I'm dying"

"Something's happening"
"Mind destructing, agony inside of me"
"My pulse is racing"
"It's this paranoia"

"Pacify"
"The chills inside"
"It thrills my mind"
"Electrified"

at 1:18 they change again:

"can't ignore the paranoia"
"Pulse is shaky, madness breaking"
"Agony inside of me, my pulse is racing"
"Mental torture"

at around 2:57 it returns as such:

"Something's happening"
"Mind destructing, agony inside of me"
"My pulse is racing, it's this paranoia"
"Something's happening"
"Mind destructing, agony inside of me"
"My pulse is racing, it's this paranoia"

"Denying, the rising"
"The crying, I'm dying"

after that, the chorus repeats this:

"Denying, the rising"
"The crying, I'm dying"

Then it ends once the beat drop kicks in.

Finally, it has been almost 8 years. I remember in middle school when I attempted to convince people in my music class that this has depth to it, but all they’d hear would be “dubstep noises”. Finally, inner peace. Thank you.

Max is the perfect example of the world turning the kindest of people into monsters.

3:13 at the same point the music switches to opera, we also get these consistent pulses of electricity on all the rests, which sounds to me like electric footsteps from a literal living power surge. I love this song.

If Mysterio’s theme was about revealing to be evil, then Electro’s theme is about transforming into evil.

"If you think tough men are dangerous, wait until you see what weak men are capable of." Perfectly describes his character

I always loved this theme. The goodness slowly becoming consumed by loneliness, then the tension building up, repressed anger slowly surfacing. And then the sheer power and rage when it finally gets unleashed. I've listened to it for years. It's fantastic.

You know the world is heading the right way when people finally appreciate Electro’s theme. Banger video

I also love how the bass line in Electro's dubstep theme is a minor-key rearrangement of "Itsy Bitsy Spider."

This is the first time I’ve ever seen a video explaining what people who see through their ears see- they can truly see a story by listening to something without words.

That’s something I only get on a subconscious level- but to see someone truly lay it out like this as I listen…. It’s like seeing through new eyes

In NWH as soon as the Goblin says “Gods don’t have to choose, we take”, you can see Electro immediately change his mind on getting cured.
That’s because it completely resonated with what he said by the end of of TASM2.

“I’m gonna TAKE back what is rightfully mine. I will control everything, and I will be like a GOD to them”

I was waiting for the world to appreciate Electro's theme. It's one of the masterpieces Hans Zimmer worked on.
