I remember when my uncle moved to California in the early sixties. He’d come back to visit and tell us about the sights, the cheap and plentiful food, the weather and so on. He loved it there. We were envious. Many years later the stories changed, about his neighborhood getting worst, the crime, the high taxes, political corruption. Paradise lost to greed….

I went to bank the other day for some business and the guy I spoke with moved to Missouri from CA 10 years ago. He said he had to move so he could afford to live. I know other people here who also moved here from CA for the same reasons.
