Planning to build a victorian style greenhouse from reclaimed bricks, donated glass and new wood. Appreciate the suggestion on using cedar, I'll look into it and report back in the spring 👍

Hi Ben, try looking at wood rot cure, simply drill tiny hokes to affected timber, paint on the product, it sets off rock hard. Your timber frame will go on for seasons to come. (Ive used it to great effect on sash windows, and rate it highly)

I finally built my greenhouse this summer, salvaging old bricks for the bottom two feet, old louvered windows all around, while using new polycarbonate for the roof and concrete for the floor. It's been so much fun learning how to "cool" the major summer heat here in Texas, using raised beds my husband and I made out of old store wooden merchandise displays, using goat fence squares for their trellises. Thanks for all your videos, as you tremendously teach me how to seed, plant, water, and grow almost everything I desire! You've been my stand-by guide for years, turning my brown thumbs greener. :)

I have been building my own greenhouse this year, wasent quite done for this summer, but will be ready for the 2025 season :-) i love it allready, even thou its not 100% just the fact that it had a roof and sidings, made my tomatoes grow alot, and my pepperplant seem to love it. When the outer shell is completly done, i cant wait to build beds, tables, and shelves for maximising the space.

I ordered mine just before Covid hit. My husband and I put it together and I love it. 8 X 8ft. Aluminum with plastic panels. It does heat up excessively in the summer. I have the louvre on the side, automatic vent in the roof and a big fan in the end. I have a water barrel with a solar drip system to water the plants. My thermometer has a display in the house but I still need a reminder in my phone to run out and open and close the door when the sun shines. I don’t heat it in the winter so primarily use it spring and fall. I use the garden planner and love it too. ❤

love your greenhouse Ben, 2 years ago i invested in a rhino greenhouse in sage green with finials an indulgence but i love it as it not only looks beautiful but is solid and practical and yes automatic vents is a must, now this may sound daft but i had lots of seedlings in trays in march which i had started in the house so into the greenhouse they went i covered them in thick fleece at night and inbetween them i put rubber hot water bottles i never lost a plant lol kisses to rosie xx

Great points to consider before making what is likely to be a significant investment. Thanks for all the info!

I've seen some brilliant greenhouses made out of old windows. My late uncle built 1 for a neighbour, not long before he died

I started with a glasshouse 30 yrs ago, switched to pollytunnel but had to replace the plastic too often(roughtly every 3 years very windy) and now have a geodome(expensive but have had no trouble with it for the last 4 years), will install another vent this winter as the heat in summer can be a problem. Love yr Sat night vidios. Thank you.

Thank you! I was considering getting a greenhouse myself earlier this year but I've no idea how to go about it! This definitely helps! :D

Thank you so much for these tips! I was interested in a lean to style, on end of garage, real sunny, out of the wind. I am glad you mentioned it. Love your videos and we all have learned so much! God bless you. 💖
