Day 1: Pilot G2 | 25 Days of Pen Tests

I'm starting this new series on my channel called "25 Days of Pen Tests," where I'll be scribbling down my reviews of 25 different 0.5 mm tip gel pens with black ink! Today, we have a fan favorite, the Pilot G2.. but is it actually a favorite of mine? Watch the video to find out!

Even though everyone else said it too, you have really nice handwriting :3 haha. I'm SO glad I wasn't alone in not really caring for the Pilot G2. Tried them over the years in school and even when out, and I found them scratchy, uncomfy due to them being JUST thick enough round to hurt my fingers after a bit despite them having a rubber grip, and I personally had lots of trouble with them cutting out of ink randomly and also after just sitting a bit. It was unfortunate since they are pretty cheap all things considered and wrote much smoother than a regular cheap ballpoint. My personal fav was the Pilot Vball grip, it was a rollerball kind of like a fountain pen, except with a rubber grip on it, which I noticed wasn't very common in stores in the early 2000s. For many years I've done most things at a computer but for nostalgia's sake I'm thinking of starting up a written journal and writing a "to-do" list of things to do in this zombie survival game 7 days to die me and a friend are playing and want to draw out and plan our base LOL. I'm considering giving the Pilot Precision V5 rt 0.5mm a try or the ultra sharp 0.38mm Sharpie S Pen a try, they're pretty cheap for a two pack. There's a plethora of offbrand pens all over amazon too, am considering getting a 30 pack of fountain pen rollerball 0.5mm pens for only $6something lol.

I just got a fish so I’ve been journaling when I change it’s water etc. Also I work a job I have to notate and write a lot in general. Pilot g2 bold! Fav pen!

Archival quality has more to do with resistance to UV / sunlight. Water resistance is a separate property.

I completely agree with you on the cult favorite, but not a personal favorite...eeekks! I find the same problems with wanting to write with the pen not slanted and wanting to apply more pressure ughh. I think the very least is the ink distribution...and now its never consistent!

What size is best for writing? I use Cross medium. But would like something between Cross medium and fine. Cross fine is not a smooth writing experience IMO.

You're the only other person I've seen agree with me that the Pilot G2 are uncomfortable to write with. They're so thick for me. I don't like the grip. I prefer a thin body pen like the standard BICs

if you play the video at about .25 speed you will see the actual speed of writing. it's quite slow lmao
