Finding ghee pure enough to use for sacred purposes is a problem these days for devout Hindus, since many large-scale producers add salt to their product.

To get the grainy texture, sprinkle a few drops of water or add some salt after you cut down on the heat and remove from the stove to cool down. Otherwise, the liquid will rise up and spill all over!

Madam, thanks for the perfectly explained video! As soon as I saw it, I was so impressed and set out myself to make ghee from 500gm, Neelgiri's unsalted butter. Ghee came out so well - in colour as well as fragrance. However, I have these small doubts: 1. Instead of using the vessel with handle and swirling the vessel continuously, what about stirring with steel ladle continuously? That is what I did - used thick steel vessel and ladle - yet it came out well. 2. Some say strain the ghee with etc. is it necessary? I poured the ghee to another container without any strainer and leaving the residue behind. 3. Ghee did not solidify even after 10 hours. Was there anything wrong in the way I did or is it because temperature here is about 30 degree? Later on I put the ghee inside the refrigerator. In few hours, it was solidified and yellow. 4. Can sprinkling water at the end can spoil the ghee if we want to use it for longer duration?

You should have shown the last part filtering in detail. Always consider that there are people watching who are absolute beginners and don’t have any idea of what they are doing. So please in other videos you make, display every step in detail.

Music in the background was a distraction. The process wasn't clearly described.

Thank you! My first attempt at ghee making was actually successful, the sprinkling of water did indeed help to achieve the grainy consistency I was looking for!

Can I also use this homemade ghee for frying just like what we buy in the supermarkets? I read that ghee has high smoke point and that is good for frying just like coconut oil. Thank you.

This was interesting and well presented...but I was somewhat taken aback when you put water in the ghee at the end to control the temperature. We just spent 20 minutes getting rid of the water. Is this really a smart move? I'm sure you have experience, but a small explanation would be appreciated.

What a cool, beautiful voice the narrator has! I've seen several YouTube videos on how to make ghee, & I definitely think this is one of the best, with its clarity as to how to make ghee at home.

My mother always used to say we should not mix the liquid butter too frequently while making ghee..She used to say the ghee gets agitated...
