The easiest homemade GHEE recipe EVER! (Clarified Butter)

Ghee (clarified butter) is absolutely AMAZING for cooking, searing, baking, or sautéing. So flavorful, and benefits from being lactose-free and can cook at much higher temperatures than butter. Such a good way to get in those healthy fats. And making it at home saves you a ton of money - It's really expensive to buy at the stores!

Ghee is NOT the same as clarified butter. Ghee is cooked longer and has a more nutty flavor.

Ghee is clarified butter, but clarified butter is not ghee. You have to take it further till it's golden and nutty to be actual ghee. (Not that there's anything wrong with clarified butter.)

Mine takes much longer than 10 minutes… and I just saw another short by an Indian lady. She said give it a good 30 minutes… have it on low.

Also use a *deep* pot - because occasionally air bubbles can erupt & spill butter all over your stove top.

Hi chef Michael

The ones who are used to it know it tastes like heaven
I eat it apply on my skin and hair
It's amazing
I have my own cows ill remove the cream from the boiled milk once I have enough in my freezer ill put it on heat on low flame to get ghee and will use the left over milk solids in a special dessert recepie.

Actually the ghee is made by churing the curd until the butter is extracted then that very butter is cooked for 30 min in medium flame to get a healthy ghee(this is the ancient indian process of making ghee )...making such ghee takes more time

Chef Michael - I am new to cooking. Can you explain why ghee is good to have?

Do NOT “lid it” before the ghee cools to room temperature. Lidding it will trap moisture in the jar which contaminates, leads to mold growth (black spots showing up), and decreases shelf life. Instead, place a square of paper towel over the mouth of jar. When fully cooled, lid it then.

Home made yogurt sets with thick cream on top. This cream when churned then melted and roasted brown makes ghee

The main aspect that differentiates ghee from other dairy is the absence of milk solids. Hope this helps. Great effort though! 😊♥️🙏🏽

I thought Ghee was similar to browned butter... very nutty.

I just made 10 jars of ghee for my pantry. Love having shelf stable “butter” in my home.
