In college back in the late 60's I read an article by the Buckminster Fuller Institute on the math involved with building a dome building. I think it was at the Worlds Fair in Montreal, Canada. I drew up plans for a 36 foot diameter home with a half upper deck. Got drafted and my world changed. I've seen a couple that had "Shotcrete" (sprayed concrete) with four foot tall, cinder block base walls, then covered with soil and grass ... they were amazing.

I think the owner chose the geodesic dome as a way to stand out from other BnB offers. However, it's important to keep in mind that this is still a fabric-covered shelter; so its durability, thermal and noise performance can't be compared with conventional homes but with other lightweight shelters like yurts or tents.
Modern geodesic homes have solved most of the shortcomings of the basic design, so it might be worthy to visit an actual home to see how it compares with conventional domestic buildings.

Thanks for the thorough review. My kids saw these and we are looking into trying one of these - even if it's just for the novelty factor of staying in something dome shaped

We totally love our domes, they are the perfect structure for us as we are only allowed canvas structures as part of our planning permission.

Very cool idea and concept. I wonder if we have any of those in the US. I would love to try this out. Thanks for your insight and information

The bubble cost about 8k -12k. Now, the base, inside walls, kitchen, sewer, etc that would cost more. Probably about 25-30k total.

Interesting about the sound. It would resonate like the inside of a drum.

I think if it was located in a different area than the one you were at and maybe not so close to other domes etc, it's a fun idea :)

You can put a conventional roof on a geodesic dome, so sound and insulation wouldn't be an issue

I can't see the roof material last more than 3 years regardless of what the manufacturer says, it would be nice to see an update 3 years later.

Hi, you have booked a dome which is not fully function. Most of the modern domes comes with a remote control screen below the skylight, which can be closed and opened obviously. 😂

I think in many aspects your right, But it is still a tent. if this would be from concrete or ceramic, isolated eso, you would not have that many contras anymore. also, you where their in a bad moment, namly, they where still in construction mode. Dont miss understand me, i like your revieuw. And i would look forward for a revieuw from you, in a real build dome. Greetings from Belgium.

I want to buy a land and slowly build our house. Me and my husband are considering leaving in one of those meanwhile. Is kind of hard find review about people leaving in this. I am concerning about the heat during summer time.

They're hard to heat and it sucks when they leak

hi, please lower the music volume in your next videos, it's a bit loud and disturbing. Thank you

This is just like renting a tent with a permanent frame and appliances, true domes are completely another matter.

I know people live in them, but they seem a bit dangerous as far as bears and other intruders.
