It feels criminal that chloe burbank never got a full release

don't get me wrong, joji's newer music is still cool, but his earlier work during the chloe burbank and lost instruments era just felt so magical, it elicits certain emotions that I never knew I even had before, whenever I'm feeling down or alone I normally play some of the songs in this playlist and it does wonders.

now that I'm older, whenever I listen to these songs they hit me with a lot of nostalgia, taking late night walks and playing joji and waiting for the ballads 1 drop. Its sad to see the route he's going with 88rising considering that he didn't really write any of the songs on smithereens, as well as it being a relatively short album after waiting quite a while for him to drop a new project, but hey, at least his older music will never get old.

i used to listen to these songs years back when i was depressed and mentally drained 24/7...now i listen to them with fond memories somehow and a better state of mind. it gets easier with time, keep going.

I'm currently 23 and I remember coming across this version of Joji by accident when I was 16. It took me a couple seconds to realize that he was filthy frank, I was so shocked to even think how a man who made the most out-of-pocket content could make such chill and relaxing music. I often associated this era with some chill and good memories from a simpler time. I don't want to sound like a hater towards his newer stuff, but it seems like I just resonate with older works better than his newer projects.

Just looking back, it brings a sense of melancholy for a time that is long gone. Either way, I am happy that joji is making it big.

Ahh good olé mid 2010’s Joji, reminds me of Highschool, the morning rides on the bus to and from school, going out for lunch with the boys, meeting new people in class, teacher lore, falling in love, skateboarding in the hallways, Joji was there for all of it.

We need more of that Chloe Burbank style to come back and it’s pretty clear the old boy loves these songs to this day.

Man. All of these songs are criminally underplayed. The fact that almost nobody knows about World$tar Money or Rain On Me breaks my heart.

Man I miss these ethereal tracks with soft pianos and cluttered ambience

i remember biking under light rain in 2017, playing these songs, "and as far as we go, as little as we know" always used to hit so hard. being 21 now, these songs represents some kind of heritage, they are so precious to me, they feel utterly nostalgic.
I truly wish joji can end his contract with 88r and slowly claim himself back. I live for the day another chloe burbank-like song is released.

i adore these old tracks. such a tender personal feel to them. i love that lofi style of production, where you dont hide the seams of your creation, you can hear joji hitting the spacebar to end his recordings lol. when i was like 16 his stuff got me onto so many other artists. got me producing too, his stuff is relatively simple, but capturing that romantic/melancholic vibe is the very difficult part. by the end of this year i think ill try to put out some stuff like this, like an ode to chloe burbank i guess.

God when I listen to Chloe Bur Bank and I close my eyes. I can vividly picture myself in my middle school art or theater class, drawing my little heart out. Or feel my body become lighter in times of anxiety, sadness, or overstimulation. I've taken this album with me by hand into adulthood. Feeling like the warmest blanket fresh out of the drier everytime I replay it. So warm even after all these years it can still lull me to sleep when I'm having a rough night.

Truely comfort in its purest form

I wish Joji would go back to this direction of his music. A lot of this is truly beautiful like a melancholy Nujabes. I'm 17 and I remember discovering all of these songs when I was like 9 lol. Honestly these just remind me when I was little, worrying about the silliest things that never even mattered.
