This involves maintaining an illusion of prosperity through falsified statistics, coupled with extreme control over public discourse to suppress any questioning voices. Commentators have ironically referred to these as the two magic weapons currently employed by the CCP echelons to combat economic recession.

The end of this (claiming that if China befriended the U.S., things could greatly improve in 3 years) is wildly unrealistic. The threat to invade Taiwan, the absurd 'Nine Dash' claim to alost the entire south China sea, the naval blockading of the Philippines and Vietnam from fishing in their own waters and accessing their own islands, the sheer scale of intellectual property theft, the blatant violation of Hong Kong's 'one party, two systems' agreement, the 'wolf-warrior demeanor in many meetings and public announcements, the 'State Owned Enterprises (SOE) with their government subsidies leading to unfair trade practices, and the general dystopia of massive surveillance and 'social credit' scores - collectively offset any simple attempt to 'befriend'.

The CCP Custom can manipulate export data. But it cannot manipulate the containers ship traffics out of the Chinese ports !
The cost to ship a 40 feet containers from China to the United States West cost is in free fall : down to USD$1460 from a peak of USD$16, 000 in January 2022!
