I never wanted to work with php. Though i had a nice joboffer which required to work with php. With a framework like laravel it is really nice to work with.

Thanks to me learning PHP as my first programming language, it helped me greatly understand the concepts of programming. When I crossed over to other languages such as JavaScript, it was a much easier language to pick up.

I hate legacy php codes bases. They are full of spaghetti code, so unorganized compared to other code bases, and take much longer to debug or add features as a result. I hate php with a passion.

PHP have 3935 native functions, 5386 embeded methods, 1891 constants, AND 650 native classes. PHP is an scripting language, like Python, Javascript, Ruby, Bash, R, and Perl. It's based on C, like Go, JavaScript, Python, Ruby, Perl, etc. It's an interpreted programming language, like Python, JavaScript, Ruby, Java (that stands in between), an the same goes with Lua.
So, anyone who hates PHP, must hate Python, Ruby, JavaScript, R, Go, etc, etc, etc, etc.

I'm still using PhP in 2024. If developers take time to experiment with it, they may realize the language can be very dynamic.

I love semicolons, parentheses and curly braces 😊 it looks more organized visually.

Some key words like "as" are not so readable but no programming language is perfect.

PHP has been supposedly dead for over a decade now... Hahahaha... Yet, most of the solutions someone needs from web development can be accomplished beautifully with WordPress, or Laravel for complex applications. Almost every new JavaScript tool seemed like it did something that PHP does natively.

I got into learning PHP 3 months ago after years in JavaScript land so I can get a good grasp of the backend and it's a great language. I got to touch data in a database and get back data on screen really quickly compared to backend JavaScript frameworks like express Js. These days I'm looking to learn more so I'm open to joining any PHP groups that can help a beginner like myself.

Php is dead like Java, still keeping running a lot of business applications. That said I still wouldn't use it for complete new custom projects, but also nothing JS based. I would prefer Go.
