I love watching what each ballerina does to make their pointe shoes a perfect pair for each dancer. 💗

Ballerinas and how they personalise their shoes after purchase must truly be unique compared to any other product on the market.
Imagine buying a new car and then scuffing the paintwork with sandpaper? Or buying a designer dress and ripping the sleeves out, or purchasing a brand-new house and moving the front door.
I would like to see an interview with an actual ballet shoe maker, and then ask them how they feel about their lovingly-made shoes being bent, hacked, chopped, glued and re-sewn by the owner after they have put so much effort into making the perfect shoe.
With so many dancers who darn the pointe, you would think that a maker would start doing this for ready-made shoes.

I totally get how those Viva paper towels could make good toe pads, and I don't even dance. I use them for lots of other things tho and they're awesome.

Lambs wool is similar and because wool doesn’t hold onto odors you can reuse it a bit.

They break them to be soft then use glue to get it hard? I'm confused.

I wonder if tennis overgrip tape or something similar would help instead of having to darn the shoes. It's got a bit of grip, a hint of cushioning, comes in loads of colours, wont damage the floors. Just cut it to size, stick it on
