Gov. Jay Inslee puts National Guard on 'standby status' in response to potential election unrest

Washington’s National Guard is now on standby for unlawful activity related to the election, but officials are saying very little about what that means.
Gov. Jay Inslee said last Friday he was activating some of the National Guard in a “standby status” to make sure the state was fully prepared to respond to any sort of civil unrest.
There are 8,000 members of the Washington National Guard, but a spokesperson declined to give any operational information about the mobilization on Monday. Inslee’s office referred to the Washington Military Department for updates.
However, by comparison, Inslee called in 200 members of the National Guard during the summer of 2020 to assist law enforcement in Seattle.
