I can't wait to see where this goes. I can see SO many uses for this.
I will add this. Another channel says that in it's current form it can only do 1024 I think. If you use a 4k or 8k image and let it generate, then zoom in, you will see a noticeable difference in the resolution making a "blurry" look on the generated area. Just try to use a high dpi landscape image and expand the crop to see this for yourself. I'm sure that in the future it will support higher resolutions though

I love how much fun you were having with this 🤣

I rarely use the marquee tool for generative fill, but rather the lasso tool to get a more specific selection. Like if I want to make a puddle or a body of water like a lake or something, I will use the lasso tool over anything else. It just works better. I do agree with you, though. This is absolutely insane technology! Hopefully it isn't something that ends up replacing real photographers and artists.

I don't know whether to be insanely excited or crap myself as a high end retoucher. This stuff is mind-blowing. Just hope my clients don't all go out and buy photoshop... I am just trying to keep ahead as much as I can! BTW love your sense of humour :D

It will also blow the job of millions. Not just this cheat mode but AI in general

I'm sure by now you have discovered the 1024 x 1024 limitation and how to get around that. It's fun to see you so excited. Our jobs are not in danger, we'll just have a lot more free time to do it, eat, visit friends, set up meetings, you know, live. No more high pressure jobs for he time being where you're down to the last minute with a client breathing down your neck. Now, you choose when to get the project back to them. Enjoy!

I don't think we have to worry. This is just a new and improved tool for us to use. It is no more truly creative than say MS Word is in terms of writing the next great American novel. In the end it is our creativity (or lack thereof) that what we produce yields in the way of the experience people experience.

Definitely I feel the same way as you, it's extremely exciting and scary at the same time... I'm without words right now

My own prediction - future photographers will begin composing shots with the intent of generative editing in photoshop.

Ex: Intentionally not centering a shot to get more room for a reflective puddle underneath.

you arent finding bugs btw, youre just finding out how to use the fill

Making a prediction: film photography will be making a comeback with all these huge digital advancements!
UPDATE: At the time of making this video, I had wrong information. The "HD, 4K and Large RES" sampling is INCORRECT. At this time, the generation is done in 1024x1024 blocks. IF you are doing a larger area, this block is stretched and can look low res. The workaround is to generate 1024x1024 blocks at a time to fill the larger area. This is a way that you can "fake" higher res.

There’s no bug… if you always have the top most layer selected before you generate, photoshop will sample every visible layer below it for the generation… so quit always selecting the background layer as there is no need for that when using generative fill.

i am SO excited for the future lol, technology is getting crazy cool. im only 17 but ive been interested in this stuff for years and its amazing how far its come in the little bit of time ive experienced it. although i am a little sad that the even younger generation wont have to go through having to do all this stuff by yourself lol

For someone who works with photography and imagery, you should not cut away from the image as frequently as you do. It detracts from the comparison highlighting the juxtaposition of a once natural image to an AI generated one (one of the main reasons anyone might be watching this)

Pretty scary of course. But with every miles stone and technology we just need to adapt :) It is going to provide limitless creative opportunities if you know how to use the tools! Exciting and scary at same time.

Although this is hella impressive and I can't wait to try it out, the car picture is a very good example of how Generative Fill DOES add unsolicited changes. Look at the horizon on the far side of the water to the left of the car - GF changes it, even though it had nothing to do with the car. Just pointing this out as if there are historical monuments or very familiar objects in the picture which are changed as a result then people might notice.
