Being private is weird.
Being able to be alone is weird.
Being able to read people is weird.
Empathy is weird.
Compassion is weird.
Thinking about the future is weird. (btw. not the ability to create pretty well fitting prediction makes an INFJ secretive, it's people criticizing the sht out of us).
Being a perfectionist, who is responsible and well-organized is weird.
Having many interests and hobbies, being open/creative is weird.
Fighting for someone else more than for yourself is weird.

Maybe the world would be a better place if people would be weirder.

I think "unique" is more appropriate than the word "weird" because these characteristics are unique to INFJ personality. It has a more positive connotation. I embrace being an INFJ and don't consider my behaviors overall "weird".

We aren’t weird, we are simply misunderstood by 97% of the population and if we seem reserved, that’s a good first reason why. The only thing I had real issue with was how he said we have to tell the future. Introverted intuition is not fortune-telling. It’s an innate sensitivity to subtle patterns that give us an idea of what will happen based on information already provided that not everyone can perceive. Other than that and calling these behaviors weird, I’d say it’s pretty much spot on.

We keep others at a distance because we are looking for worthy souls…

Confronting other is a real pet peeve of mine. I don’t like being in arguments or discord because it’s too taxing on me emotionally and mentally. But if I witness others getting bullied, watch out, I won’t stand for it. I will (and won’t hesitate) to fight those who bully others. And have done this time and time again since I was in elementary school.
So it’s true that we advocate for others but not ourselves. Well, at least in my case it is.

As an INFJ, I hate conflict. They state that disagreements can lead to an open give-and-take discussion, except that in my experience conflict leads to people steamrolling me. There is no give-and-take. Other people just take...then I disappear.

I think it is very unfair to call any of these behaviours weird. Weird according to whom? By who's standards? They are just behaviours. It is damaging for us to be told that so many perfectly ordinary things are weird. Is it any wonder we are so private when we are being judged that way.

I ( INFJ ) have a friend who always say to me " I've never saw a boy like you " ( positively ) and this is the best compliment someone can ever give me

I'm ENFJ and my co-worker is INFJ, we have level 5 telepathy and mostly communicate with animal sounds, other co-workers are human and don't understand this.

I’d say they isolate themselves because they absorb so much information that they get overstimulated

But let humble ourselves and remember just because we can read people well does not mean we are always correct with our reading.

Being alone a lot is not some kind of a disability. We don't like groups, small talk, or people who enjoy talking about superficial things.

I Sympathize with batteries, I'm not included either.
I don't want to be special, I just want to be valued. - INFJ

As far as perfectionism goes. It's true, we are perfectionists, but I feel like we still have a good understanding that nothing is perfect. If you aim for perfection, you may hit 80% of that. For me, that's the goal. Shoot for perfectionism so that you'll land somewhere closer to it than the other direction. I feel like most people go in to things hoping for the best, but if they don't plan for the best they can fall really short of their goal. If you're aiming for a bullseye, you're more likely to get close rather than if you just aim for the whole target in general.

Once an INFJ matures a bit more many of these issues resolve, such as avoiding conflict and not being able to draw proper boundaries and take care of ourselves. Oh and we’re not actually perfectionists, we just require aesthetics which make us seem perfectionistic. And for those commenting, weird is only bad until you accurately define it. Be blessed fellow INFJs and Happy New Year. -xo

We’re definitely seen as “different”, and misunderstood. My job requires me to advocate for others (I work in a medical group that cares for military members), but advocating for myself is hard AF.
