White House corrects 'scary' Joe Biden gaffe suggesting US troops joining war in Ukraine

Sky News host James Morrow says Joe Biden's gaffes got "really scary" after the White House had to correct remarks the President made suggesting United States troops will be heading to Ukraine.

Speaking to troops of the United States 82nd Airborne division Mr Biden suggested they were going to Ukraine to witness the Ukrainian resolve.

"Ukrainian people have a lot of backbone. They have a lot of guts. And I’m sure you’re observing it," he told service members in Rzeszów, Poland.

"And you’re going to see when you’re there. And you, some of you have been there. You’re going to see women, young people standing — standing the middle of — in front of a damn tank, just saying, 'I’m not leaving. I’m holding my ground.' They’re incredible. But they take a lot of inspiration from us."

Mr Morrow said it sounded as if he was telling the Airborne they were heading for Ukraine.

"The White House quickly had to do a cleanup in the Pringle Aisle, saying it was a "gaffe" and that no, troops were not going to Ukraine," Mr Morrow said.
