Meta Quietly Added One of the Quests Most Requested Features!

In today's video, we will look at a few new features added to the Quest platform. One of these is the highly requested option to play music in the background! Yes, you can now play music on your Quest 2 and Quest Pro while playing games or surfing the internet just like that! This seems to have quietly appeared in the v53 PTC with very few people noticing it. We will also discuss the v54 PTC that has just come out, adding a few features to your Quest and changing some UI elements. For example, making the universal menu look more modern and adding custom skyboxes to your home UI! I hope you enjoy the video :D
In today's video I will be telling you about all the latest pieces of news happening in the AR and VR Space. Today's video will be focusing mostly on new content for our VR devices, in this, mostly on Quest Content, like new games and apps. This, according to many, is the missing piece for VR to be where it needs to be. First of all, we will talk about the Meta Quest gaming showcase which has just been announced, after this we will talk about Echo combat going free, and the fact that some sort of title from the Asgards Wrath universe might be coming to the Quest platform. As well as this we will also talk about Pistol Whip ending PSVR 1 support and Horizon adding some new Media sharing features! I hope you enjoy the video :D

what I don't like about using the browser for music is that the music does lag while playing, with the old method you played the spotify app in the background which had no impact on performance in my view but also keeping the music not laggy at all, but the browser has laggy music which just keeps getting a weird lag spike every 2/3 seconds.

Regarding the filters in the app library, you can set up how they filter on start up in the Personalisation settings. I set mine to Recent and Installed because otherwise you can still see deleted apps.

I actually noticed that notification panel play option weeks ago, but never considered the significance since I don't typically WANT to play audio in the background (usually keeping an ear out for enemies closing in from out of view or playing synthriders)

Hell yea !!!! I have been blasting music from my computer speaker’s while playing to have my own music forever . I have needed and pleaded for this for last 3 years

I'm guessing it wasn't announced because people complain about what it doesn't yet do. chances are they have to wait for the app developers to add code to their apps to get more functionality with this new ability. then I think it will be announced in a bigger way.

Could you please do a video explaining the "Software update System Version" vs "Version" vs "Runtime version" vs "OS version"? Reason for asking, I"m in the PTC and have the same "Version" as you, but do not have the Experimental "Custom Skybox" option My "Version" is the same as yours, but the "Software update System Version" number is slightly different.

Brilliant! On a side note, tabs in the browser are not staying open after a day of not using the headset after the update. Anyone else experiencing this and is there a solution to keep them open like before?

The background playback actually is available in V51 too, NON-PTC, at least on my unit.

Does this new version in any way help fix the lag spike issues with quest craft? I remember the devs saying it was because of a memory leak in v53.

Ok so I have a question. Is this possible when connecting with a link cable as well? Because that takes me to a completely different UI. Forgive me I am a noob. Only had mine for a few weeks. I would love to take my favorite youtube playlists into VR so I can fly MSFS2020 and jam out at the same time.

Is the filter icon in the top corner new to v54? Weirdly I've had that for a while now instead of the drop down, roughly since v50 I think. Not exciting lol but perhaps they've been testing it with some headsets.

How can I get the latest update for my Meta Quest 2? I still have the v51, and every time I press the "Check for Update" Button, it says, "No Updates Available."
