I took the biggest dispersed campsite I could find and someone decided there was enough room for 2. Wouldn't have minded too much except he ran his generator for 3 hours at 9pm. The ribbon is a good idea.

This is the best video I've seen on this topic. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Everybody else talks about it and acts like the viewer knows what they're talking about. I live in western North Carolina, and could not figure out the forest roads and camp sites, even after watching numerous videos. Everybody glossed over the basics. I have been following van dwellers way before YouTube even existed and you are the best teacher of boondocking vanlife I know. So thanks again for keeping it simple.❤

I spent a week 10 days ago in the Ouachita National Forest on the Arkansas/Oklahoma state line. I never saw one ranger and only saw one other vehicle in the entire time. And I also never saw a picnic table! However, I was definitely NOT alone...there were mosquitos, chiggers, and critters that moved through the brush at night, making critter-type noises.

And I love it. National Forests are my go-to spots east of the Mississippi.

Great video. I find a lot of YouTubers who show off their public land camp site for Instagram pics but they never actually say how they go about finding them. Like a best kept secret

A fire ring does not always mean a dispersed campsite. That may depended on the area that you are in. I know for a fact that in the national forest south of me, that there are day use only areas with fire rings. These are areas next to major natural water sources, in which they don't want people camping that close to the water.

It's also very handy to follow other RVers on you-tube ... Van life and such. I'm always impressed at the places they share with viewers .... places they find and have all to themselves.

This is the most informative video yet, by far. You really killed it great work. It answered so many of my questions, especially the 12 state thing.

The tape you strung across was brilliant. Lets someone know you're in there somewhere. Saves you from getting headlights/noise at night. It also saves someone from wasting their time and having to turn around or having to back all the way out.

This is great. People must practice "leave no trace" camping in these locations.
