Good news: Delta A321neo first class is different than anything you’ve seen before (at least here in the US). Bad news: it’s not all that much better than the standard Delta domestic first class product, which is making it hard for me to justify the added cost.

These new seats feature more privacy than the standard seats (which is good). There’s more storage space as well (that’s good too). Comfort remains about the same, so think twice before spending more money (or points) for these.

This is a full review of Delta flight number 322 from San Francisco to Boston in July 2022. I had seat 4A for this 4 hour and 55 minute flight, and the aircraft registration was N501DA.

Less space in front of you than the average premium economy on an international carrier. Why? The other question being, why are they allowed to call this first class when the amount of space you get is (far) less than in an international business class?

Excellent review as always. I just booked a flight for August with Delta from San Diego to JFK in first class in an A321neo and it was around the same price that flights with one stop with two A321s. So I think it's worth it when the price difference is minimal

I'd love to see your take on Air India. Flew them prior to the pandemic and was amazed that they served a full meal in coach on a 1.5-hour domestic hop. It's been many years since I've flown long-haul on them so I'd like to see your take on how their experience is today.

BOS-SFO and BOS-SEA are routes that Delta views as being between domestic F and domestic Delta One (BOS-SFO had 757 Delta One for a while a few years ago): the catering is typically better than other domestic F routes. It wouldn't surprise me that much if Delta switches the branding on these routes to Premium Select once every domestic Delta One route is on Premium Select-equipped aircraft (which will be when the 767 retrofit is complete and the three-cabin A321neos replace the Delta One 757s), which would end complimentary upgrades beyond Comfort+ on these routes.
