How does this compare to the white catfish rod?
I wish I could find a video comparing the two side by side. Like having them both in a rod holder and attaching weights to them comparing the bends.

Uglystik is one of the best rods Hands down. You could not ask for a better built rod. I bought 2 10ft casting rods and they will comfortably cast baits up to 10oz no problem. I purchased both of my rods from Amazon. I also own 3 of the catfish rods from uglystick.

Every rod breaks. Even rods like Mad Kat, Slime Cat, and other high end rods. As long as your not out to catch Jaws or a go cart going 30mph the Uglystik should last you for years and years of use. Great rods, nice price. Great durability, sensitivity and cast ability. 👌

And yes, these rods perform just as well or not better than most high-end rods. You will have no issues handling fish up to and over 50lb.

So they're more medium action and medium heavy when you say and if you catch a smaller catfish you'll still have a nice bin to it and if you get a real big one on and have a nice bend also

I just want to get to 10 footer but I was just wondering if it's heavy in hand without the real so I don't like the big Waters series because they're so heavy. I want to pull the trigger on the 10-ft casting but want to know if these are heavy without the real and if they're too stiff because I'm not always going to be on big fish I might be on one or two pound bullheads 10 lb channels or maybe a 50 lb Flathead want something that's going to cover all three

Nice review Mike! Haven’t gotten a new rod in long time but just started getting into carp fishing and bought the 7 ft Catfish Special for the job 2 months ago. Love it so far!

My question to you- how are the guides holding up on your rod? I put braid on mine, but after reading reviews about new Ugly Stiks overall getting grooves in the eyes from braid I’m second guessing my choice and debating about switching to flouro. Any feedback would be awesome, thanks!

Update: ugly stik has discontinued making these rods in the 8-ft baitcasting length. They removed it from their website.

They said it wasn't a good seller. But they're continuing with the 7 ft, 9 ft, 10 ft, and 12 ft.

How I found out was the line guides on this rod are getting grooves. All I use is monofilament line. So they're going to send me a substitute since they no longer carry this in the 8-ft length. They still have the spinning rod version in the 8 ft length but not the baitcaster version.

So the substitute they are sending me will be the 8-ft two-piece bait casting Catfish (the white one).

Do you have an experience with a typical ugly stick baitcasting rod to compare how the tip is on the catfish special? Which one would be softer?

I just picked up a Bass Pro King Cat.
It seems okay. Maybe a little on the heavy side. Have you ever had a chance to compare that one?

If not that's okay. I have the catfish special coming in this week and I will compare it to the king cat. Just hoping someone else might have had some experience with it already.
