Fixing the Leather Airbag Cover on a Ferrari F430

This Ferrari F430 has the typical leather shrinking issue on the airbag cover. So we remove the airbag cover, pull off the leather, clean up the foam stuck to the airbag, then replace the foam and reinstall the leather. It's not a terribly difficult job and can be accomplished without any special tools. You will need to get the 3M trim adhesive which is linked below. Nice work! Pro tip from a former aerospace materials engineer: When cleaning parts do your final wipe with a clean rag/cleaner solution as one wipe in one direction. Don't wipe back and forth and spread any contamination around.

I would have masked the finished side of the leather and the base of the airbag assembly to ensure the proper coverage of the 3M adhesive on both.

Since you guys seem to be doing a bit of leather work. Find your local cobbler supply company and order a bottle of shoe makers glue. Its like contact cement but a little more flexible when dry. I would have avoided the 3m spray and rolled on shoe makers glue so you got the edges at the same time and it would have been perfectly smooth. Most likely this is how the factory does it.

5:21 When i saw the metal frame of the airbag i wondered if you’ll nick the leather on the dash when you pull it out. And you did! Pays to slow down and be mindful.

Like your vids though - despite being exotics these cars aren't complicated and can be worked on well at the DIY level if youre half cluey. Wouldnt have a problem buying from you guys even though you arent certified ferrari techs.

Invest into some lights so we can see what is going on. Magnet ones work well for under car / engine and in the car as well.
