Hello I'm ex forces. I always thought that the officers were aloof and distant especially the top Brass. I hope this proves me right and they would march you into disaster. The British army is less capable than when I was in and I left in 2011. More people are leaving the armed forces than are being recruited. The Afghan and Iraq generation have mostly left already

The PM wants to get rid of another 20, 000 troops. I served during the 1980's, when we had more in Germany, etc than we have in the entire army now. To be honest, we no longer have an army, we have a Self-defence force, with an offensive component in sheer numbers terms.
Don't get me wrong I love the army, but we are well under-manned, etc. always doing more with less and all the political class think of is constantly cutting numbers, safe in their bunkers, if it kicks off.

I completely agree when I was in I was always ready to rock and if or when WW3 breaks out I would probably be called upon once again. would i go and fight if we were up against it yes but not for the government nor the king but to help the lads and lasses that needed help.

It's natural for soldiers to want to go to war, it's what they train to do! But it's scary when the top brass start banging the drum for a war they couldn't possibly win!

Former British Army vet, I loved my time in the army, I love soldiering but I can honestly say I wouldn't fight for this government. The direction and leadership of the country is a mess, filled with liars and corrupt businessmen that wouldn't send their sons.

You have to pick your fights. Our Military need be ready but not just to go to a war because they are bored. I get it that they want to see action. Personally I think we are under attack in the uk now and where is the defence? If military went abroad fighting they won’t have a free country to come back to. 😤
