James Last - Going Home

A tribute to the Gentleman of Music, James Last who bowed out at the age of 86 on the 9th June 2015. This piece, the first track from his 1980 album Romantic Dreams, an adaptation of the Largo from Dvorák's New World Symphony, was played at his memorial service in Hamburg on the 8th July.

In 1972, I was at a unique concert by James Last in Moscow. For the first time I saw the Russian audience, well-mannered and behaving quietly and calmly, jump up from their seats and dance on the chairs. The orchestra was not allowed to leave the stage for a break, and the concert lasted not 2 hours, but 4!!! I was 16 years old, and I remember this concert for the rest of my life. Thank you, Maestro!!!
