I'm a new agent who just started this AEP. I love that your channel is full of great info not just for people wanting to learn about Medicare but also for new agents like myself who need more guidance on certain topics.

Great explanation. My birthday is in March and shopping Livingston County (14435) NY for initial sigh up. My cheapest G plan is $203 plus need a D. MOOP here seems higher than what you describe for the Advantage plans. Excellus BC/BS Medicare PPO has $7900 in network or $11, 700 combined in and oon. I have a lot to consider but am leaning toward the G plan based on expecting to need more medical coverage as I get older.

I'll take my chances with traditional Medicare with a G supplement and a part D plan. As I look at it, between traditional Medicare and a Medicare Advantage plan, it's pay me now or pay me later. Advantage plans can offer things like dental and gym memberships because they spend less on your healthcare.

Really great critique! Important to read all the fine print regarding copays and co-insurance, perks, etc ...As a side note if you are eligible for Medicaid you have it made. Everything is free.

Best explanation I give clients on MAPDs is think of it like lady Justice and here balancing ⚖️. When selecting an HMO your dedicating yourself to the see doctors in the network with a reward of lowered costs. If you want wider rang of physicians it can come at a hire cost.

I have a question for a friend. Her husband is going through cancer treatment. He doesn't have good insurance. He is 65 in May. He is going to continue to work but would it be better for him to enroll in medicare Part A and B plus supplemental and quit his work insurance. Right now he pays 400 a month for this not so good insurance. But in May he will be 65. Can he cancel his work insurance and go on Medicare with A, B and supplemental. Since he is going through treatment would medicare pickup where his insurance left off and will they pay even if he still is going through treatment? Sorry for the long question but they don't have a lot of money and they need to have better insurance.

I like your thoughtful and sane approach to the various plans. In your various videos, I have been unable to find your explanation and evaluation of Medical Advantage Medical Savings Accounts. Do you have anything on these? Thank you.

In NYC Medicare + G + D = $460 a month, minimum. Or $5, 640 a year - upfront. And if you don't use it - you lose it. So if you're a younger senior and in good health, it make sense to go with an Advantage Plan in hope that you will never pay much out of pocket anyway. And even if something happens - you've just saved $5K and you can pay this money as out of pocket expense to Advantage Plan. So it's basically you pay either upfront, or pay later, but if you're lucky you may save a lot of money with Advantage Plan.

Please do a video on retired military families who have ChampVA. CVA is the secondary insurance for Medicare - basically a Medigap insurance provided to spouses of deceased 100% Disabled military. If ChampVA works with Medicare part C (Advantage Plans), does that change the part C financial exposure?

One thing rarely mentioned, and I didn't realize until I asked, dollars spent on drugs don't count toward your Part A and Part B expenses(MOOP). Meaning your MOOP excludes drugs and there is not a MOOP for drugs with MA plans.
.
Just need to factor that in when you are thinking about how much expenses you might / can have.

Last year, after watching these videos, I suspended our FEHB insurance that complimented our Medicare. It was Cadillac insurance. I went with a Blue Cross PPO Advantage plan. That so far in 2002 has saved us 5, 000 dollars in premiums. I can reactivate our FEHB at any time. My colonoscopy in the surgical center, was a 5, 000 dollar procedure, I paid only the 250 co pay. My wife's annual mammogram was 0. We are very healthy, and the few drugs we take are covered. I had 1500 dollars in dental work. My plan paid 1000. 100% of the hospitals in Alabama take it. All the lab work related to both procedures was 0. Every hospital in Alabama takes the plan, and 90% of doctors. It paid for my eye exam and 50% of the cost of my new glasses and frames. My hearing test was also covered. My plan has 5100-dollar moop in a worst-case scenario. In 2022 so far we have about 500 dollars in total medical expense (drugs, doctors, )of which 100 of it was rebated via money cards. Salesmen for medigap plans will tell you your plan is taken by any doctor in the country, and that is true, but how often am I out of the state of Alabama? About 10-15 days a year. Now am I going to spend 5000 dollars annually to cover that? No. I don't live my life expecting the worst. "But what if you have a heart attack in Maine?" "I'll take my chances, but you go ahead and pay the insurance company, to cover you those 2 days a year your in South Dakota." My plan will cover me out-of-network but it will cost more. That's ok, I"ll use some of the 6000 dollars I saved in premiums. I followed Mark's advice and did my due diligence before enrolling, and very pleased with the result. There are agents on Youtube that scare people out of their wits about extended hospital stays etc. When was the last time you saw someone in a hospital for 60 days? For crying out loud a heart transplant is 2 weeks? I do suggest a stand alone cancer policy no matter what plan you have. Mine pays me directly, and cost 8.90 per month, and never increases. If you have FEHB be aware you can freeze that policy and return to it at your discretion for any reason, no underwriting etc.

I have 2 dental plans I pay 69 and 75 a month. I was going to drop one but the dentist said if I keep them both then a crown etc would be paid 100% between the plans. I had 2 crowns this year and the $3000 bill was $3 out of pocket. One plan is unlimited but would have been 50% of that cost if it were the only plan.

I've been with Kaiser since 1978 and have been generally pleased with their services. Will be 65 next year and am anguishing if I should stick with their Advantage Plan or go with straight MediCare with Plan G. Independent Vision and dental plans sound extremely reasonable; less than a daily barista coffee fix for the month.

Original Medicare +Part D + Supplement is the best healthcare insurance you can get for most people. Given all the negative news around the abuses "Medicare" Advantage plan carriers have had lately, why would anyone want to subject themselves to that kind of abuse? The Senate report documents the abuse, failure to approve needed care, and overbilling of the taxpayers.
"Medicare Advantage" is not Medicare and is a disadvantage.
