Latest whistleblower arrest signals ongoing attempts to 'silence the press'

Former intelligence analyst Daniel Hale was arrested this week for leaking classified documents detailing the secretive U.S. drone program. Hale is the latest in a string of journalists charged under the Trump administration for allegedly leaking classified government intelligence. James Risen, The Intercept’s senior national security correspondent, views the arrests of journalistic sources as an attempt to stifle the "debate about this fundamental issue of who lives and dies." He says, "It is only through a lot of different disclosures in the press that we understand what the war on terror has really been about."

I am all for whistleblowers leaking things done by governments that are illegal. Whistleblowing on things that are legal really serves no purpose except maybe cause harm.
Censorship is a much bigger issue in the world.
Droning should be stopped, no doubt, since people should be allowed a trial.

"Press", he is speaking about headline news visual media. Print journalism and books is where details are revealed. It is not the fault of corporate, convenient Nightly News, news cycling on cable TV it, Etc that are to be blamed. The blame rests on the heads of the citizens of the country who do not seek out information on their own (which is about 90% of the population?) People do not invest their free time in reading about their government because it is not stressed in their basic education.
